If you want to go where no Kerbal has gone before, at a rate faster than our own Earthly space programs, I would put Kerbal Space Program at the top of your list.
My only issue is that KSP is still a really tricky game and I feel that a bit more could have been done to improve the tutorial and how to use these new features. Every part that is available to the game is unlocked.
You can use it for educational purposes to gain a rudimentary knowledge of rocket science or just build anything you want.
Once you get the hang of it explore the planets and moons of the Kerbol system construct bases and space stations and expand Kerbal influence beyond the stars. Get access to a plethora of parts and machinery to construct a fully functional spacecraft to fly to outer space, or build an ICBM rocket with Kerbals strapped inside. Take charge of the space program of the alien race known as the Kerbals in Kerbal Space Program a space simulator game about conquering Kerbals final frontier space.
